Meet Jessica

A Bit of Background. Because I don’t believe a therapist is ever a blank slate.

As long as I can remember, it’s been natural for me to listen to others, to truly hear them, and to connect on an emotional, empathic level. What’s more, I’m also really good at results-oriented, action-based problem-solving that is fun and collaborative. Holding space and gently guiding forward are necessary ingredients for successful counseling.

I moved around a lot while I was growing up, which gave me an early education in resiliency, adaptability and the diversity of the human experience.

I took the long, scenic route to wind up in private practice. After grad school, I worked in about every clinical setting you could imagine: intensive outpatient for substance abuse issues, longterm residential facilities for the chronically mentally ill, and everything in between. I even spent a handful of years in the managed care world, so I’m pretty fluent in insurance-speak. These experiences colored in the lines of my formal education, and helped me to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

I find I’m most in flow when working one-on-one or in small groups with people who are committed to healing and growth, and who are looking for a knowledgeable guide and collaborator on the path to wellness. I come to the table with my own lived experience and my own bumps and bruises along the way.

It is important to me to admit my missteps, examine my biases, and be open to always learning as both a clinician and a human being.

Who I Am and What I Believe:

  • I believe my ongoing education as a fallible human with a ton of lived experience is as important as my more traditional clinical training.

  • I’m super passionate about lifelong learning. I think this was one reason I became a therapist- so I had an excuse to keep learning new things.

  • I have a deep and abiding reverence for the natural world. I’m most myself when surrounded by trees and listening to the birds sing, or with my feet in the sand on a beach somewhere.

  • I’ve got a healthy rebellious side. I question the status quo and often think and act outside the box.

  • I believe when we can find the interplay between our logical side and our intuitive side, that’s when the real magic happens and we get back in balance with ourselves.
